NCMS was founded in 1964 by a group of government
and industry security classification managers and administrators who recognized the importance of establishing a society, national
in scope, to advance the practice of Classification Management as a profession.
Today, the Society has over 4,000 members in the United States and overseas including representatives from NATO countries. Within
the U.S., members come from the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Department of State, National Aeronautics and Space
Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Security Agency, General Accounting Office--virtually every Federal
agency that deals with classification--and from the civilian contractors who work with these agencies. As the Society has grown
over the years, its focus has also expanded. NCMS now provides professional development for its members in the field of classification
management, information security, personnel security, computer security, operations security (OPSEC), facility security, and technology

NACE International was originally known as "The National Association
of Corrosion Engineers" when it was established in 1943 by eleven corrosion engineers in the pipeline industry. These founding
members were involved in a regional cathodic protection group formed in the 1930s, when the study of cathodic protection was introduced.
With more than 60 years of experience in developing corrosion prevention and control standards, NACE International has become
the largest organization in the world committed to the study of corrosion.
From just 11 engineers, our association has grown to more than 25,000 members in over 100 countries. Built upon decades of knowledge
and expertise from dedicated members all around the world, NACE International is involved in every industry and area of corrosion
prevention and control, from chemical processing and water systems, to transportation and infrastructure protection.
